About The Event

Marcus-David Peters was a black VCU graduate and teacher who was going through a mental health crisis when he was killed by the Richmond, Virginia Police Department.

Police acknowledged Marcus, who was unarmed and going through mental distress, and RPD killed him anyways. Since his killing, nothing has changed and our community is still at risk.

We have made five demands, including the creation of a "Marcus Alert", so mental health professionals are the first responders to mental health crises rather than the Richmond Police Department.

On Saturday, October 13th the nation is coming out to support Justice and Reformation in marches and showing up and protesting the unjust police violence in our communities at Police Departments.

- The National March for Justice and Reformation and National Day of Action are peaceful events. Any violence is not provoked or encouraged by the coalition and the family of Marcus-David Peters.

- Watch for signs of physical and mental distress from yourself and others. Cool down others who exhibit panic behaviors.

- Document, film, or otherwise note police actions, brutality, and injuries.

- Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can move in.

- Consider bringing a hat, sunglasses, or other protective face gear.

- Bring multiple water bottles for yourself and others in your group. - Pack snacks in case someone needs food.
